Itinerary
Day 1: Exploring the Depths of Borneo
Your journey begins with a pickup from Sandakan (hotel, Sepilok, or airport), followed by a scenic half-day drive to Telupid and into the wild. Along the way, enjoy a brief introduction to Kinabatangan’s history and local culture.
Hop into a 4WD and head deep into Imbak Canyon, traveling along rugged logging roads. Upon arrival at the Imbak Canyon Studies Centre, settle into your eco-lodge or tent and relax.
In the late afternoon, explore the surroundings for birdlife and wildlife. Enjoy a buffet dinner, followed by a short video and casual briefing about the conservation area. End the day with peaceful views before an overnight stay in the heart of the rainforest
Day 2: Exploring Untamed Wilderness on a Trek
Start your day with a guided morning walk in Imbak Canyon, where you might spot gibbons swinging through the trees. Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the Bambangan Dining Hall or dine al fresco, surrounded by the calm sounds of the rainforest.
Head out for a jungle trek with a packed lunch, crossing the Suspension Ara Bridge and following forest trails to the ancient Big Belian Tree. Along the way, keep an ear out for hornbills and take in the rich wildlife that makes this part of Borneo so special.

The stay at Imbak Canyon Studies Centre is mainly centred around the Imbak Canyon Studies Centre (ICSC), the main hub for travellers, researchers, and eco-tourists.
Accommodation is within a research and conservation area, so facilities are simple and eco-friendly.
Electricity is available daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
The itinerary and routes may be adjusted depending on weather, safety conditions, or operational requirements (e.g. heavy rain or wildlife activity).
