Discover the wild landscapes and diverse wildlife of Tabin Wildlife Reserve on a 3-day, 2-night safari from Lahad Datu. Stay at Tabin Wildlife Resort beside the Lipad River, explore the active Lipad Mud Volcano, trek to Lipad Waterfall, climb the Birdwatching Tower, and enjoy evening and nighttime wildlife activities in the rainforest.

Itinerary

Day 1: Into Tabin’s Wild Rainforest

Travel from Lahad Datu to Tabin Wildlife Reserve, approximately a 2-hour journey, and settle into the resort beside the Lipad River. After a guide briefing and introduction to the reserve, explore the surrounding rainforest and take part in a food-waste recycling session before trekking along the Elephant Trail to the active Lipad Mud Volcano, where mineral-rich ground and animal tracks reveal signs of wildlife. Enjoy dinner before joining a night safari to search for nocturnal wildlife, followed by stargazing beneath Tabin's dark sky. Overnight at the resort.

Day 2: From Birdsong to Nightfall

Start with an early morning bird walk through Tabin's rainforest, home to nearly 300 recorded bird species, followed by breakfast. Drive to the core area and climb the Birdwatching Tower before continuing through the rainforest to Lipad Waterfall, where a natural pool offers a refreshing dip and shower. Stop at the Tabin Giant Tree for photographs before returning to the resort. In the afternoon, enjoy the Tabin Rainforest herbal foot soak, then join a dusk drive to search for nocturnal birds and wildlife. After dinner, take a night walk near the resort to look for sleeping birds, frogs and other nocturnal creatures. Overnight at the resort.

Day 3: Final Birding & Farewell to Tabin

Enjoy breakfast and free time before check-out. An optional dawn drive may be available at an additional fee to search for wildlife active at first light. Receive a mud certificate marking the completion of the safari before departing Tabin Wildlife Reserve and returning to Lahad Datu.
