Discover Tabin Wildlife Reserve on a 2-day, 1-night safari from Lahad Datu. Stay beside the Lipad River, explore the active Lipad Mud Volcano, trek through the rainforest to Lipad Waterfall, and experience a night safari and early morning bird walk in search of Bornean wildlife.

Itinerary

Day 1: Beneath the Rainforest Canopy

Travel from Lahad Datu to Tabin Wildlife Reserve, approximately a 2-hour journey. After a guide briefing and introduction to the reserve, settle into the timber lodge beside the Lipad River and explore the surrounding rainforest. Early arrivals departing at 8:00 AM may visit the Tabin Visitor Centre for conservation insights. In the afternoon, take part in a food-waste recycling session before trekking along the Elephant Trail to the active Lipad Mud Volcano, where mineral-rich ground and animal tracks reveal signs of wildlife. Enjoy dinner before joining a night safari to search for nocturnal wildlife, followed by stargazing beneath Tabin’s dark sky. Overnight at the resort.

Day 2: Into Tabin’s Hidden Trails

Start with an early morning bird walk through Tabin’s rich rainforest, home to nearly 300 bird species, followed by breakfast. Drive to the core area for wildlife spotting and photography, then trek through the rainforest to Lipad Waterfall, where a natural pool offers a refreshing dip and shower. Stop at the Tabin Giant Tree for photographs before lunch. Receive a mud certificate marking the completion of the tour, then return to Lahad Datu for departure.
